I’m writing this in between bedtime - my eldest is reading next to me and my youngest is asleep the other side of me, bedtime lasts hours in this house with 3 kids, it’s a miracle when they are all actually asleep!!
I wanted to share a few things with you that I’ve loved this week, or things that have made me smile.
My youngest taking his first steps - we are up to 4 steps at the moment, his little face when he walks, he looks equal parts surprised and pleased with himself each time. I’m still struggling to catch up with the fact that he’s 13 months now, even writing that seems strange!
I read Honey and Spice by Bolu Babalola which I loved - a smart, funny, current romance that I couldn’t stop thinking about the book afterwards. I loved the main couple and also the best friend too, who really tells it like it is.
I also read Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez - I’ve loved all of her books so far and liked that this one had a couple in it from her previous book too. I’ve also just realised that both of these books were about a fake relationship but then they fell in love, but they were both so different.
This Gemini horoscope from Chris Corsini is just epic - felt like the pep talk and encouragement I needed right now!
This podcast episode from
with and - it’s all about balancing motherhood and your business and everything they talk about just resonates deeply at the moment.Really enjoyed reading this post from
where she interviewed - I especially liked that her secret to a happy-ish life was about living with integrity and authenticity - something I’m really trying to do more as authenticity is one of my values - (I talk about more about values and how you can work these out as a mum in Episode 2 of The Inspiring Mums Podcast if you fancy a listen). This post on the sharp scrutiny of midsummer from
- it was interesting to read about how she feels about people loving her work and the discomfort of that. This quote really resonated too:“I keep telling people that I’m a little overwhelmed, as if I have ever been capable of a simple whelming in the first place.”
This post on Seasonal Stories of Everyday Magic from
was wonderful. It was especially timely as I’m thinking about my Dad today on Father’s Day who passed away nearly 4 years ago. This part especially, really made me stop and think:“When we look back at out childhoods or think about the loved ones we’ve lost, we are sent back to breakfast around the kitchen table more often than a fancy birthday dinner. This is why noticing everyday magic is so important: the seemingly mundane, daily repetitive moments of life are the magic. The magic, then, isn’t something we have to create artificially or wait to be deserving of, it’s just something we have to observe, it’s already there.”
I’m reading Presence by Lisa Lister at the moment - it’s all about knowing yourself, claiming your power and taking up space - yes to all of those!
This episode of The Unpublished Podcast where they interviewed
(whose weekly posts I adore) is a great listen, and I felt like it gave me the permission to do things my way in my business. It’s so refreshing to hear that people who I see as successful have the same doubts as me too. I loved their honesty.
I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I’d love to hear about some of the things that you’ve loved this week, or that have made you smile - let me know in the comments!
You sweet soul - thank you so much for sharing our podcast! Sending love for you on this day, which I can only imagine is extremely emotional! xx
