Sometimes I have a good idea of what I want to write on here, other times I have a few different ideas and bringing them all together produces something that I didn’t initially plan to write.
This is one of those posts!
I’ve been inspired by this post by
all about giving ourselves the permission to write about what we want, because that’s what it is all about isn’t it, not just in writing but giving ourselves the permission we need to do what we really want to do.Not waiting for someone to give us the green light and say, “OK, now you are ready, or now you have the permission”. It’s down to us.
Which can feel harder, especially when we are so used to seeking external validation.
Nope, this is about believing in yourself. Believing in your ideas. Trusting your intuition and going for it.
Even when you are not sure of the outcome.
Even when you are scared.
Because contrary to how it feels, these feelings mean that you are following your true path. It’s just your fear is showing up and saying..
“Woah woah woah, what are you doing?!We haven’t done this before!”
“Are you sure you want to put yourself out there to be judged?”
“What will people say? What will people think?”
“What if people don’t like what you are doing?”
These thoughts mean that you are jumping out of your comfort zone and into the unknown.
These thoughts are just trying to keep you safe, but they aren’t helpful.
Because if we buy into these thoughts, it means that we will just stop. We won’t take action and we won’t take that leap because these thoughts knock our confidence - right at the time when it’s pretty shaky anyway.
But, by realising that these thoughts are just that, thoughts, and instead saying to yourself “I’ve got this and I know I can do this”, takes courage.
It takes self-belief that you might not have known you had.
But when you do it, that’s where the gold is, the other side of those fear-based thoughts.
Because even if that thing doesn’t work out?
All is not lost.
You’ve tried.
You’ve put yourself out there.
You’ve learnt how to do something new.
And you’ve been brave.
It’s never wasted because the next time you are ready to jump out of that comfort zone again, you’ll know to expect those voices. And you’ll know that by kindly thanking them for their concern but letting them know that “It’s OK, you’ve got this”, and you will find the gold again.
Now, this is all something that I am reminding myself as I run my first Mini Retreat for Mums on Saturday 16th September. It’s from 1-3:30pm at Vibes, Cardiff Bay and it’s a unique afternoon retreat for mums to meditate, journal and be coached so they can feel relaxed, recharged and uplifted!
ALL of those voices I mentioned earlier are there, daily! I’m showing up every day sharing more about the Mini Retreat despite those voices.
Because the gold I’m talking about here is that magical energy in the room when you get like-minded mums together. For the mums who are coming along, I want them to feel like, “Ah OK, I always thought it was just me who felt like this, but it’s not - other mums struggle too”.
And of course it’s not just about the struggles, it’s also about mums realising that actually they are doing an amazing job just as they are right now. And that gives you that inner confidence and self-belief as a mum. And we all need more of that don’t we!!
If you are local to Cardiff and you like the sound of my Mini Retreat for Mums, then I’d love to see you there! I’ve got an early bird price offer of 30% off until Fri 8th Sept, which makes tickets just £21. Why not come along with a friend too!
You can find out more and book your tickets here.
OK, back to rocking my youngest to sleep… he always wakes up halfway through me writing these!
I’d love to know of a time when you’ve pushed past that fear and found the gold, let me know in the comments!
