Week 5 of the summer holidays...
Sunny days at the pier, a Mini Retreat for Mums, being bold and brave enough to take action and 3 Substack posts I've loved.
Life lately
It’s week 5 of the summer holidays already, and it’s kind of gone both fast and slow at the same time in a weird way. Does anyone else feel the same?!
We are at my Mum’s house for the week and trying to steal pockets of time to do some writing is tricky - I’m currently hiding out in the bedroom while my youngest is napping to get this written.
Here’s a few pics from our week so far:
A rare photo of all three kids sitting still!
A gorgeous day at Mumbles Pier on Sunday.
My youngest, up to mischief in the the bookshop.
Behind the scenes
For the last 2 or 3 weeks, I’ve been working on the info for my Mini Retreat for Mums, and this week I was finally ready to release it into the world, such a good feeling!
Introducing, my brand-new Mini Retreat for Mums, a unique afternoon retreat for you to meditate, journal and be coached so you can feel relaxed, recharged and uplifted!
Tickets are just £30 and I’ve got space for 10 mums.
Here’s all the info if you fancy coming along, I’d love to see you there!
If you now of any mums who you think might be interested in coming too who live in and around Cardiff, I’d be so grateful if you could share the Mini Retreat for Mums info with them - thank you so much!
With or without the plan
I’m wondering if this resonates with you.
When you want to make a change in your life, whatever it might be - you want to do it perfectly and properly.
What I mean by that, is thinking that if you are going to do something, you might as well do it properly right?
You:
Go all in
Do all the research
Get all the things
Plan it all
(This is definitely my natural way of doing things).
And OK, this approach does work for some things, maybe.
But I’m wondering if we should be telling ourselves the opposite.
That it’s OK:
not to know everything
not to have a grand plan
not get all the things we need at once
Because, one thing I’ve realised is that it’s not the careful planning that makes the change.
The thing that makes the change is you being bold and brave enough to take action.
With or without the plan. And the action will lead the way.
The action will let you know what step you need to take next.
Even though it feels scary to make a change or do something you’ve never done before.
You taking that action is you taking a leap of faith into doing that thing you really want to do.
Even if you haven’t got it all figured out yet.
And actually, that might just be the best way.
Substack posts I’ve loved lately
This post from
really struck a chord with me, in terms of the pressure I put on myself for my writing and content to be perfect. Here, Janelle reminds us that:“…we can put out something that is not ‘the best’ and it can still have an impact on someone else.”
This quote from Alice on
on her post all about the heavy lifting that happens before a change :“It’s the idea that before a big change in our lives, we often feel very heavy with feelings of fear. Even when we’re ‘launching’ something really positive, it comes with a dose of discomfort that has to be overridden.”
This post from Lyndsay on
about seasonal living and elemental wisdom, which I found fascinating. There’s some lovely suggestions of water rituals you can do for the senses and soul, which I’ll be trying out.I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and let me know in the comments:

I loved reading this and thank you so much for featuring my recent post, it’s an honour to be included!
Your retreat sounds magic and so needed! And I your take on planning was refreshing to read.
I have recently loved reading about mother as the first environment by Joanna Wolfarth, the art of holding space by Claudia Wilde and gracefully ageing by Mackenzie! (Annoying not to be able to tag names!) x
