This is so needed, this is my last summer with childcare (3 mornings a week) as my daughter starts school in September. I am savouring the help this year as I know it will be a whole different experience from next year onward. I look forward to watching your video soon, it’s a lovely way to connect with you. Thank you for sharing our ritual, hope you manage to find what you need there for summer xx
Thanks so much Lyndsay, hope you enjoy watching and that the tips land with you. I don't know why but time seems to go even quicker when they start school, because you are living from term to term and the weeks just disappear! How are you feeling about your eldest starting school? It's a big change isn't it, and you can hardly believe they are old enough to start school, like where did the time go?!
Oh I can totally imagine that, living in 6 weeks or so chunks! I feel very mixed about it and I think she has started to feel a bit nervous about it. She is very shy in unfamiliar surroundings so it will take some getting used to for sure. I just hope she will thrive once she gets into it! She really loves playing school so I hope the real thing lives up to the imaginary world. I know, I really can’t believe it…in some ways she is ready for it, she seems keen to learn etc, but in others she seems way too little! xx
Thar's it, a real mixed bag, and it's the unknown too isn't it. It sounds as though she's getting herself ready for it by playing school too - so sweet. My eldest used to like playing schools, but it mostly involved her telling the class off (aka her cuddly toys) , and putting them all on time out!! A bit harsh!! Yes that's it, you know they are ready for the next challenge and that extra stimulation, but they also seem so little, especially when they try on their school uniform! X
I need alllll the tricks and tips to ease any overwhelm for this summer holidays, so I’m very grateful for this post! And thank you so much for sharing our little ritual here… I really hope you get to sink in and enjoy it all xxx
Gosh me too!! I partly recorded it as a kind of reminder to myself for when I'm knee deep in the overwhelm over the summer hols, it'll help me find a way out! Hope you find the tips helpful. You are welcome - well I tried to sit down last night after the kids were in bed, but my youngest had such an awful night's sleep, awake every hour or so, so that put a stop to my plans!! Maybe this evening!! Hope you are having a lovely holiday too xx
