3 things I’ve realised from running gatherings for mums across 6 years
Come and join my 4 weekly cosy gathering circles for mums throughout November to reflect, dream and connect with like-minded mums whilst sinking into the seasonal energy of Autumn.
I've been creating and running gatherings for mums since 2018 - whether it’s been in:
✨ monthly self-care meet ups for mums in my local community
✨ self-care workshops for Cardiff University
✨ online and in person well-being workshops
✨ mini retreats for mums or
✨ my new creation - The Autumn Sanctuary (I’ve got space for 12 mums and we start on Sat 2nd Nov - come and join us!)🍂
There’s 3 things that I’ve realised from all of these gatherings over the last 6 years:
Mums need spaces to talk openly and honestly about motherhood, without judgement
Mums aren't looking for advice - (god knows we’ve got advice coming at us from all angles) - instead we want to feel, seen, heard and witnessed.
When you realise that other mums feel the same as you, or have had similar experiences to you, you feel less alone.
Self-compassion instead of self-blame
I believe that gathering together as mums heals us all on a deep level and has a profound effect on us as mums, and the stories we tell ourselves.
“It's just me who feels like this” turns into “I’m not the only one who feels like this.”
This is where self-compassion starts.
It's also where we realise that if we are all feeling a similar way as mums, then what's causing us to feel this way.
We can move away from self-blame.
What you realise when you zoom out
We can zoom out and see our situation from a different perspective.
We can see what other factors might be at play like:
Maybe we are finding motherhood hard because it is hard - it’s literally that simple.
Society puts enormous pressure on mums to be the perfect mum - a mum who never shouts, never gets angry, has endless patience and is totally fulfilled by motherhood. How can we ever live up to these unrealistic expectations which leave no room for mistakes, normal human emotions and are entirely self-sacrificing?
Society does not value mums nor does it support mums. (I talked about this more in this post which was all about ‘Matrescence by Lucy Jones - a must-read book for all mums.)
So, let’s mother our own way instead
If we are striving towards something that’s impossible to achieve and societal expectations are a total contradiction, then we may as well mother our way, in a way that feels good to us.
I talked about this more in this note:
Would you like to join a mini community of like-minded mums?
If you’d like to:
talk openly and honestly about motherhood, without judgement
feel, seen, heard and witnessed.
realise that other mums feel the same as you, or have had similar experiences to you, and feel less alone
bring in more self-compassion into your life
Then I’d love you to join my mini community of like-minded mums throughout November at The Autumn Sanctuary.
What’s the Autumn Sanctuary all about?
The Autumn Sanctuary is 4 weeks of cosy weekly online gathering circles for mums, via Zoom. We’ll start on Sat 2nd November and they’ll run until Sat 23rd November.
Each 90 minute cosy gathering circle is a space for you to reflect, dream and connect all whilst sinking into the seasonal energy of Autumn.
Designed especially with Autumn in mind, each gathering circle will be a blend of group coaching, journalling, seasonal meditations, mindfulness and self-compassion exercises.
We are going to harness the seasonal energy of Autumn and focus on these different themes each week:
letting go of what no longer serves you
bringing more balance into your life
what you are grateful for this year &
celebrating your achievements of 2024
The Autumn Sanctuary is going to support you in:
having some dedicated time and space out for yourself
being kinder to yourself as you learn how seasonal energy impacts your own energy levels
finding clarity on your thoughts and feelings from journalling and sharing your story
feeling grounded and soothed as you listen to the seasonal meditations I’ve designed especially for mums
feeling energised and uplifted by the collective healing energy of a like-minded group of mums
finding a small community of like-minded mums and feeling inspired and comforted by them sharing their similar experiences to you
Kind words from my lovely clients
I’ve got space for 12 mums to join me at The Autumn Sanctuary.
The early bird price of £100 is available until Sunday 20th October - you can choose to pay in full or in instalments (2 x £50 or 4 x £25). You can find out all of the information and book your place here.
I am so excited to lead you through The Autumn Sanctuary so you can feel relaxed, uplifted & fully recharged with you feeling the benefits long after our month together ends. See you there!
