Thank you for this brilliant interview Jenna and Emma. I loved what you said about creativity being an energy and that definitely speaks to how it has come through for me, I hugely value the alone-time I have to be creative but when that is limited it is interesting that I can feel creative in everyday mothering if I pay attention to the energy. And yes motherhood is hardddd, thank you for the reminder not to be hard on ourselves. Much love to both of you xx

Thank you for reading Lyndsay...I was feeling that creative energy in motherhood this morning as I moved from task to task! I am trying to embrace those other ways of creativity, because they seem to be important too.

Thank you for your comment Lyndsay, yes that's it, paying attention to the energy of being creative in everyday mothering, because we all are aren't we, in so many ways, it's just we don't realise it. Gosh yes, self-compassion all of the way! xx

Love this Jenna and Emma - thank you. So much of this resonated with me. I love your perspective Emma that anything can be creative and it’s an energy… I rarely see mothering that way as it feels so different from when I’m in the creative flow with my writing. But I think this has a lot to do with the belief I’ve struggled with that mothering isn’t valuable and I’m not good at it… love this invitation to see the creativity it involves. Also thank you for this reminder: ‘It is also about trusting there will be enough time and space for everything in life to get done and asking for the space I need to go create.’

That is my go to reminder, I was reminding myself of it last night when I was anxious. I need to take my own words and apply them to playing with my son because I find that to be when I feel the least creative in my day! Writing fills my cup differently, but I also love being with him and watching him play.

Thank you for your comment Ellie and so glad you enjoyed this interview with Emma. That part of the interview really made me think too about how mothering is a creative act too. Also loved that quote - having that trust - more trust in ourselves and that everything will work out as it's meant to. x

Love this Jenna and Emma.

I love the idea that creativity is energy. Even when I’m sat drawing my mind is doing somersaults and I love that. It can be a very active process.

I also love that idea that children may remember us by smells and tastes. I might beed to polish up by bolognese recipe!

Thank you for your comment Kylie - love that idea too - creativity is an active process and it can feel so energising too. It's amazing how smells and tastes can take us back isn't it - I still remember my Grannie's cooking and how it tasted when I was little and I always associate those smells and tastes with warmth, comfort and love.

Thanks for reading! Yeah, I think about the smells and tastes because I have so few from my childhood, but the ones I do, I mean are really ingrained in my body and feel comforting when I encounter them. I want my son to have a fully embodied experience of his childhood, meaning to me, he was able to engage all his senses.
