I love that cooking is a creative outlet for you Lauren! I never think of it this way, but it totally is. I love that you honour how important creative expression is to you and make the time for it, including by getting childcare. It is SO important and healthy I think xxx
Thank you lovely, it definitely is a creative outlet - although it is a little bit stifled when cooking for the children who like to throw more of it on the floor than consume it!!! But when I get the chance to mindfully make food it is medicine to me. xx
I'd never thought of cooking as a creative outlet either Ellie, but now I will! Totally agree, having some way to express yourself creatively as a mum is so important. Knowing the difference of when I did nothing creative when I had my first child, and now, with my third child, fitting in creative moments any way I can, I am so much happier and calmer. I really think that it helps balance out the loss of identity that we feel as mums too.
Ahhh I absolutely loved reading this Jenna and Lauren, it felt like the gift of a big warm hug! I absolutely resonated with what you said about creativity always being there but motherhood unleashing your voice, confidence and conviction, as well as plenty of inspiration…! I also love your encouragement for mothers, being seen, nurtured and being told that we are doing a great job really means so much xx
I'm so glad you enjoyed this Lyndsay, Lauren has so much wisdom in her words. Yes, I loved that part too about motherhood giving you more creative confidence, it's so true. Absolutely, those kind words make so much difference, that's all we need sometimes is just that compassion, either from someone else or ourselves xx
Thank you so so much lovely one! I am so glad you resonated with that piece on creativity and confidence… it really took me by surprise but in a wonderful way! Thank you for reading, I loved answering the questions xxx
