Creating space and stillness in the mornings
How short morning meditations and journalling straight afterwards helps me connect to my intuition. Plus, the early bird price for The Autumn Sanctuary ends tonight (Sun 20th Oct) at midnight.
It’s Sunday evening and I’m sitting in my bedroom with my youngest sleeping next to me in his toddler bed, my eldest sleeping by the side of my because she was struggling to get to sleep and my middle son is fast asleep in his bottom bunk bed, cuddling his new Squishmallow. These moments of peace and calm are so needed after a busy day with the kids, I’m embracing this for as long as it last until my youngest wakes up again!
Journalling straight from the heart
In the last week, in the mornings before my kids have woken up, I’ve been doing short meditations, literally 2 or 3 minutes long in the Calm app, and then journalling straight after the meditation.
I feel like the meditation clears my mind so what I end up journalling is straight from my heart and intuition.
Connecting to that part of me feels so soothing and grounding in amongst the usual noise, chaos and overwhelm, even if it’s just for a few minutes before my day properly begins.
I’ve been sharing some of my morning self-care on Notes this week:
Intentionally creating that space and stillness for you
Having these few minutes in the morning to re-connect back to myself feels important.
When we give ourselves that opportunity to be still and listen to our intuition, we start to realise our truth, what really matters to us and what brings us joy.
Trying to create this space and stillness can feel impossible as a mum, so I’ve created something that’s going to help you intentionally create that space:
The Autumn Sanctuary is 4 weeks of cosy online gatherings for mums, to reflect, dream and connect with like-minded mums, all whilst sinking into the seasonal energy of Autumn.
You can find out all of the info here and I also talk about The Autumn Sanctuary in this video post too.
I’ve got space for 12 mums to join me at The Autumn Sanctuary and the early bird price of £100 is available until midnight tonight (Sun 20th Oct)- you can choose to pay in full or in instalments (2 x £50 or 4 x £25). You can find out all of the information and book your place here.
Thank you so much for reading! I’d love to hear from you in the comments:
What’s your biggest challenge when it comes to taking time out for you as a mum?

I resonated with this article. I also strive for some quiet time in the mornings, even though it means getting up early and sometimes being tired later on. I wake up and listen to the daily mass readings and then have a cup of tea and some time for meditative prayer before I get into my morning work. I'll have to try journaling right after meditating--it sounds like a good way to tap into your deeper thoughts and feelings.
I love that you are carving out this pocket of morning time just for you Jenna 💗 A moment of stillness to ease ourselves into the day is what all mothers need.
